Walking into Summit Coffee Co. on Main Street, you’re greeted by the scrumptious housemade baked goods. And if you’ve had the chance to taste them, you know why we sell out so quickly! Summit makes nutella turnovers, scones of all kinds, muffins, cake balls, truffles, cupcakes, pound cake, tarts, layered cakes with ganache and coffee cakes. . . to name a few. All of these items are made daily in Summit’s very own commercial kitchen on Davidson College Campus. We call it, Summit Outpost!
This Monday, July 18 – Friday, July 22, 9am to noon, kids 7-13 years-old will be learning how to make and bake all of Summit’s signature baked goods…and more! In addition, these baker campers will research, develop and test new recipes; become comfortable with how to operate commercial kitchen tools and equipment; watch a demo by Summit’s resident baker, Kelly Wilson, on how to decorate a cake (then do it themselves); work together as a team to plan and prepare for their final day of camp when they will open a pop-up bakery at the Summit Outpost.
Mark your calendars for Friday, July 22, 10 – 11:30 am and come visit us at the Outpost for freshly baked goods and coffee, all handmade by our Bake Shop campers. Everyone is welcome – you won’t want to miss this!
