Sierra de las Minas is a mountain range that crosses the municipality of Zacapa among other municipalities. It is considered to be the second most important ecological lung and the most important water “fabric” in Guatemala. This is because 99% of the forest in this mountain range is still in perfect conditions. Additionally, 63 different rivers of Guatemala are born in this mountain range. The perfect geographic location of the farms settled in Sierra de las Minas create perfect microclimates for coffee production. The region is divided into three sub-regions: the virgin region, the area of multiple uses where they grow coffee, corn and cardamom, and the “urban” region where the 222 different communities live. The producers responsible for this coffee are very committed to good quality and social and economic sustainability.
